Flip Flop Challenge: Lightning/Bows

Saturday, 16 March 2013

More sincere apologies for the lack of posting! I am missing my blog! It's just been a hectic few weeks and I just this week I started a new job as well as being busy hunting for a new car... Happy to say I've found a lovely one and fingers crossed the little beaut will be in my hands in two weeks :) Yay!... Anyways enough excuses, here's some nails... I actually did these a while back and just didn't get round to posting them. I started with a basecoat and then two coats of the textured paint... I expected not to like these, I was slow to buy one at all but now have all four!! I like the formula and the colours. After this I used a shocking pink and a square nail art brush to paint on the bow shapes (this was my downfall as they looked too heavy handed - should have got a striper on the job!) I then added a rhinestone to the centres whilst damp and thats it! They lasted ages, that textured paint can take a battering...

Flip Flop Challenge: Plaid/Moustache

Saturday, 9 March 2013

Ohhh plaid! I love a good plaid pattern when it comes to fabric and it was yet another design I had yet to try on my nails! I decided on a white base and some neon stripes :) Something bright and cheerful seeing as spring has sprung here at last (although one last, cold, snowy snap to come the next few days). I did just one, thick coat of the white and waited to dry thoroughly before using a striper brush to add some simple stripes. First the blue, two stripes alternating horizontally and vertically. Then the pink & yellow, one stripe of each in the opposite direction to the blue. I was pretty pleased with them, it's a pattern I will defo do again!

Flip Flop Challenge: Flames/Dots

Friday, 8 March 2013

Yes! I am continuing with this February Challenge despite it being almost mid-march LOL! Better late than never... I can't just stop 2/3 of the way through the list!! It would drive me mad haha. After the holos of yesterday I decided to try out the 17 Holo polish; after being less than impressed with the GOSH offering I wasn't holding out much hope... I shouldn't have worried! It's lovely! the GOSH one took three coats to get a half decent result - this was just one coat for a pretty impressive result! Such delicate shimmer :) I teamed it with the lovely Indigo for a polka dot design (started with a basecoat given the deep colour) it also took just one coat. Simple but effective! One dotting tool, two polishes and 30 mins.

China Glaze - Hologlams!

Thursday, 7 March 2013

An interruption to the challenge post catching up -  To bring you China Glaze Hologlam swatches!
I was soo excited about these! I bought them from Nail Polish Direct at a very reasonable £8.56 and I paid £6 odd for signed for - next day delivery, although first class is available free in the UK. When they arrived, well packaged, they were all present and correct so was happy with that side of things... But the polish didn't excite me to look at in the bottle, they looked more shimmer/champagne than holo but... It was a dull day... I decided not to give up hope until I'd tried them and they were much more holo in the flesh, although still very subtle. I like them but I'm not sure they fulfilled my holo craving so I may have to source a couple of Colour Clubs to round off my collection! What a shame ;) lol These were my first China Glaze and I was impressed with the formula and they smell very fresh - not toxic lol - just one coat for the darker shade and two for the lighter.

Flip Flop Challenge: Flowers/V-Gap

Saturday, 2 March 2013

I was tempted by both of these options! I haven't done a V-Gap before so would like to have tried but just couldn't be bothered to faff around with tape this evening... (my shoulder/neck is giving me grief again and the pain is wearing me out!) I still have plenty to be getting on with before I'm back on course with everything I want to have going on, so I need to get a move on! I wanted to try my new Barry M Gelly so went with that for the base; it was  a great choice because of the awesome coverage and super fast dry time... not to mention the super glossy finish! I forgot just how good these Gelly's are! I then chose a champagne polish to stamp the dainty daisy pattern with. All done in 15 mins :)

February Haul

Can't believe it's time for another of these again!! Another fairly mild month as far as the wallet goes lol... Got some nail wheels for a project and because I needed them to send some designs along with an application to WAH nails :) I finally got my hands on some nail art studs and love them!! These along with some other rhinestones, flowers and fimo pieces for some 3D fun, thank you Cheeky!... Grabbed the three colours I like in the Barry M texture range, I really like the delicate glitter in the yellow one! I also got a jelly and a couple of other shades I've been wanting to add to my collection for a while. The other LAC stuff was just 99p a bottle in Beauty Base the other day so thought I'd give them a shot... I've tested the stripers with great success; the others' time will come haha ;) My March haul is already underway too!!
