The Coveted Blizzard!

I am a huge fan of the Models Own Wonderland Collection, I wanted them all! I quickly had four of them in my possesion but Blizzard eluded me time and time again... Always out of stock! Finally this Christmas Santa was good to me and a bottle of sparkly joy was mine. So, as I have used all the others in posts recently I decided my final post of the year should be this beauty; just two coats over a black base and I am a happy girl! Happy New Year everyone! 31 Day Challenge commences tomorrow!!!

December Haul

Ok... So I didn't manage the three or so posts between Xmas and now lol... A little optimistic me thinks! But I have enjoyed the festive period and am now suitably rested to get stuck back into my blog which I love :) This evening I have two posts, this first one is my haul for December... I think I have been better behaved than last month and kept spending to a minimum; two or three bits were gifts from my other half so I have been good! I am still waiting on a package of 20 polishes to be delivered from my mum... So they will end up in Jan's haul now...

I am also excited to have a new Samsung Galaxy SIII, upgraded from my iPhone 4 - the camera is a zillion times better! Happy snapping! Last post of the year to come shortly...

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas one and all! I hope everyone has had a day filled with love and good food as I have... I apologise to all those who have checked out my page in recent days and found nothing new! Every day I have intended to get something done and failed... I even tried to rush a couple of mani's in order to put something up but those failed too due to the haste! If the madness of Christmas isn't a good enough excuse I don't know what is :) I plan to get at least three out before new year and then comes the 31 day challenge in January which will more than make up for my recent absence....

Christmas Puds!

So the last of my planned festive posts to do is Christmas Puddings! Look great, taste awful! This was a really easy look to do, took me all of 10-15 mins. Skipped a basecoat today and started with two coats of the blue which dries super quick, then added the brown pudding balls to my tips using the standard brush. Once dry I added the white icing, again just using the standard brush in the bottle; quickly added on some holly leaves with a dotting tool, cleaned and dipped in the red to add the berries... Finished off with a sparkly topcoat just because it needed a little something :) Like these better than the Snowmen but Santa was by far my fave!

Snowman Fun

So continuing with my festive themes here is my snowman mani... Not one of my favourites I must say lol :) Was quick and simple to do; basecoat followed by two coats of white, once dry I used a blue on the tips for scarves. Next I used black and a small dotting tool to add the buttons on the thumb and eyes/mouths on the fingers. I then used a small striping brush and a bright orange to add their carrot noses and finished with adding black stripes to the scarves with the same brush. Didn't bother topcoating as it'll be off in no time ready for my next one :)

Sat-ART-day: Christmassy

Todays Sat-ART-day brief was anything christmassy which ties in nicely with the posts I've planned :) So here are my Santa Nails! Was so much fun to do... Started with my clear basecoat followed by painting on the red hats, once dry I used white and the dotting tool to add the white bobble and the fur to the hat; next was the beard for which I used the brush in the bottle. Finished off by dotting on the eyes with black and the nose in pink... For the body on the thumb was just a base and one coat of red, black and the dotting tool for the buttons, small striper brush for the belt and the same striper brush dipped in gold for the buckle. Simples! I really like them... Maybe even more than Rudolph!

Rudolph's In Town

Feeling super festive today so decided to do some Christmassy nails! I have rudolph, xmas pudding, snowman and santa to do... First up is Rudolph :) This design just makes me smile, seen a few different takes on it and this is what I went with... My only wish is that I'd had a bronze to do my reindeer in... Next time lol... Did my basecoat followed by two thin coats of the white. I then used the light brown to paint on the reindeer, adding ears with a small square nail art brush. Next was the antlers painted with black and a small striper brush; then eyes using the white then black and a small dotting tool. Finally finished up with a big red blob for a nose and a topcoat :) Cute! Please excuse the cut on my thumb :(

Ruby Glitter!

Missed out on MSMD again yesterday!!! It's a shame because I like doing that post :( Must make the next couple before the 31 Day Challenge in January :) looking forward to taking part in that with the other Crumpets! Anyway, back to today's mani, it was just a quick one... I wanted to try the Barry M Ruby Glitter out - Did a Base followed by one coat of the Grey and then two of the Ruby Glitter. I just love grey mani's and it seemed an ideal base for this glitter. Likey :) The pink really 'pops!'

Sat-ART-day: Colour Blocking

Today is another Sat-ART-day challenge - Colour Blocking... I like things to be in three's and five's so went for a tri-colour design. I picked out a light and dark pink then couldn't decide between grey, black or purple for my third colour?! My other half decided on the purple for me :) Good choice I think! I did my Clear Basecoat then two of the Light Pink; taped off diagonally then just one coat of the Dark Pink. Finished off by taping again at a different angle and doing one coat of the Deep Purple. I really quite like it!

Golden Snowflakes

Missed Monkey See Monkey Do Monday yesterday... Next week! Lol! I had a long weekend away which is a reasonable excuse in my opinion! Anyways... Today I just wanted a quick job as I had Christmas Tree shopping and decorating to do :) I chose two polishes I haven't used yet; one being Peach Melba from Barry M and the other being Snowflakes from the Models Own Wonderland Collection. Applied a Basecoat, two coats of the Peach Melba and then two coats of the Snowflakes. The flakes have lovely gold/pink/turquoise tones that remind me of mother of pearl... Pretty. Must try it over some different colours!... Just not today :p lol

Sat-ART-day: Winter Scarves/Outfits

Today I'm taking part in my first Sat-ART-day! The theme is Winter Scarves or Outfits and I decided to go with the red & white winter jumper look I've seen a lot of recently. I was convinced I'd make a complete hash of it but in fact I was pretty pleased with the end result. That's what's great about taking part in these 'challenges', you try things you wouldn't normally think of or dare to do :)

November Haul...!!!

Ok so here is my first haul post; after buying many, many polishes in October, I said I would cut down... This is a snap of my November purchases...

nail polish hauls

...I don't think I succeeded do you?! Lol! True addict when it comes to colourful, shiny bottles!!! Probably more than enough for one every day of the month! My favourites are the Models Own Wonderland Collection polishes, I only have one left to get to complete the set but Boots don't seem to have stock at the moment... On the Xmas list hahaha! I haven't had a chance to try all of these yet so look out for them in future posts!

Caviar Anyone???

I've seen soooo many mani's around using the Caviar balls... Been keeping my eyes peeled for some in the stores and woohoo!! Superdrug and Claire's Accessories answered my prayers :) Both stores do a pretty good range, Superdrugs' being introduced by Mua. I imagined this to be very, very fiddly and time consuming but no! Sprinkled them on over my wet Mystic Mauve and patted them down gently with the flat end of a pencil. A couple of spots I missed so dabbed in some clear polish and sprinkled again. Perfecto! Really pleased with them and looking forward to trying the other three I bought lol!

Then Superdrug are still running their 3 for 2 on cosmetics and when I wandered into £ Land looking for a tupperware box I found Rimmel Lycra Pro & Sally Hansen HD Polishes!!! Bargain!!!! I found 5 I wanted hahaha! Can you tell I've shopped a lot this week?!?!

The Princess And The Frog

Todays post is the first of my Monkey See Monkey Do Monday designs :) I saw this mani this morning whilst browsing through my likers on Instagram and fell in love! Thanks to @mathildaweinmer for the inspiration :) Did my usual Basecoat and a coat of Bright Pink on all nails. I then used a Small Squared Off Nail Art Brush and Nail Tip White to paint out the shape of the crown, followed by Yellow. Next I mixed the Green and Yellow together to make a nice bright green and used the same brush to paint on the lil frog, adding the White touches for his eyes and tummy. Finished up the details and outline with a Medium Nail Striping Brush and Black Acrylic Paint. I haven't freehanded a design for a while and really enjoyed it! I think it's really cute too :)

Bought some Caviars, Rhinestones and Polishes today - including a Matte Topcoat at last!! :) Happy Me!

Hot Stuff!

So... The last of my Mirrorballs... Hot Stuff! Decided on a Black base for this beautiful Pink Glitter polish, I wanted to show it at its best :) As with the previous two mani's -  a Basecoat followed by one coat of the base - in this case Black, but just two coats of the glitter this time instead of three; this polish was packed with particles!  Finished up as always with a Topcoat... As with liking yesterdays mani more than the day befores, I like this one more than yesterdays! The pink, turquoise and silver particles seem to jump from the black :)

For this look I used:

  • Barry M - 3 in 1 Clear Hardener, Basecoat & Topcoat

I'm Having A Freak Out!

Decided as I only have two more of the Models Own Mirrorballs to try on their own, I would do one today and one tomorrow to round off the week of glitteryness, first - Freak Out! :) This mani was the same routine as yesterday: Basecoat, one coat of Silver and then three of the Freak Out, finished of with a Topcoat... Like it even more than yesterdays' I think :)

As a new member of the group 'Crumpets Nail Tarts' I'm planning to join in with 'Monkey See Monkey Do Mondays' from next week... AND the Sat-ART-day club, should be fun! Looking forward to taking part in some challenges with the 'British Nail Bloggers' group too :)

Golden Dancing Queen

After a failed attempt at water marbling earlier, I decided to continue with my glitter theme :) 'Tis the season after all! I wanted to give the Models Own Mirrorballs a go on their own... I chose Dancing Queen first - it is Friday :) There is a mix of coloured glitter pieces and shards - pale blue, dark blue, gold and green. I decided to pick out the gold for my base colour. After a Basecoat and one coat of Gold; I did three coats of the Dancing Queen and sealed with a Topcoat. I rather like it, reminds me of the sea.

Mister Jack Frost

As mentioned in my previous post I had the Models Own Jack frost to test out and quite frankly, I couldn't wait to try it... I'm all over glitter polishes at the mo :) I love this Wonderland Collection, I have three of the five and by the weekend they will all be in my stash lol... Lovely little shimmers of blue, green and purple in this one so decided on a pale blue base. Two coats of the Blue Moon over my clear 3 in 1 and then just one coat of the Jack Frost - two or more would be lush I'm sure! No need for a topcoat... I think it's really quite pretty :)

Disco Mixing

Just a quick one this eve, wanted to try out another of my Models Own glitter polishes I hadn't tried yet - Disco Mix. I just did a quick basecoat and one coat of Rimmel Lycra Pro in Urban Purple which is almost a fuschia shade in my opinion... I do love the maxi brushes on the Rimmel :) Such good application and finish, they looked candy shiny! I then did one coat of the Disco Mix over half of my nail and a further coat over the whole nail trying to graduate the thickness of the glitter. Finished off with a topcoat and done, 10 minute job. They look lovely - picture's don't quite capture either polish in their true glory - must try the Disco Mix on its own... Returned to the old post style :) I think I prefer it...

Holographic Hero

Todays mani was inspired by me seeing a fellow blogger using a polish I had bought last weekend and been meaning to try! The GOSH Holographic Hero! Been dying to get my hands on a holo polish and this is the first I'd come across in stores.. I really like it but it's quite subtle in most lights; it did go on very smoothly and took just two coats to become opaque . I went for a squiggly design CH16 from my Vibrant Collection Cheeky Nail Art Plates because it just seemed too fit and chose my Barry M Black to stamp with. I am pleased with the result but am afraid to say this has not satisfied my need for holo - I must find a more illustrious one... The UK really needs to catch up with the US!!!

Have a new kind of layout for my post today - is this better?? I can't decide...

Strictly Stripes

I couldn't bare to say goodbye to the lush glitter on my fingers today; instead I added to it! Got out the Masking Tape and trimmed with scissors as I currently have no striping tape. Placed the strips across the nail in a few different ways until I decided on this design; then picked out a complimenting colour from my untried polishes, a gorgeous Deep Purple. One coat of this over the whole nail was adequate, removed the tape when touch dry and finished off with a Topcoat. Really pleased with the result :)

Pretty Northern Lights

I LOVE THIS POLISH! I bought it a week or so ago and just had to try it out, Thank You Models Own - This is my new favourite :) It covers in two smooth coats, dries super quick and unlike some of my other Models Own Glitter polishes - does not smell like glue! Perfect for the party season and a pick me up on a drab old UK day!! I literally did a Basecoat, two coats of this sparkly lovely and a Topcoat - 15 mins start to finish - Will be heading out to buy the Southern Lights polish this weekend for sure...  I won't be held responsible if  some other Wonderland Collection polish comes home with me too lol ;)

Frosty Florals

Inspired by the frosty mornings of late I did a glittery floral design using my stamps today... Did a basecoat and then just a single coat of the Grey; once dry I used Silver and a large floral design from my Nail Art Plates to stamp with and finished off with a single coat of the Glitter - this was another of my new NYC polishes, from the Expert Last collection this time, I just love it and have another of their glitters to try too... Will save that for another day :) No need for a Topcoat because the finish was so smooth and shiny!
